Dear Friends,

I am getting above error when i ma starting my rac data guard on linux. i specify instance number but still its asking

Pls see the matter and do the needfull.

ORA-29760: instance_number parameter not specified
 *Cause: The init.ora file did not contain a value for the instance_number
         which is required to identify this instance to other instances of
         the database running on the same cluster
 *Action: Assign a value to the instance_number parameter in the init.ora
          parameter file

So you didn't start with the parameter file you think.

Use SQL*Plus and copy and paste your session, the WHOLE session.

Before, Please read OraFAQ Forum Guide and How to use [code] tags and make your code easier to read.
Make sure that lines of code do not exceed 80 characters when you format.
Indent the code, use code tags and align the columns in result.
Use the "Preview Message" button to verify.
Also always post your Oracle version, with 4 decimals.

Pls let me know any gap in parameters in parameter file?

pls suggest.. i am unable to start database..
