Hi,

We have a 2 node RAC and three databases are running on it for different applications. In this 2 databases, partition (range and hash) is used on few tables.

Do we need to get license for partitioning and if it is YES,

1. Is is it per server or per DB?
2. If it's per server, do I need multiply it with no of processor license.

We are on processor license.

Thanks,
Arun

The license is the one you sign with your Oracle contact.
No one can know what you signed.
Refer to your contract or ask your Oracle contact.

Per server multiplied by CPU. Same as you did for the RAC option (I hope!)

Hi Michel,

We will not be able to get the contract details as it's with the client and they will not be sharing that information.

Client was saying Oracle license cost is very high and my company asked me to cross check it.

I was able to find the details of Oracle EE,RAC,Diagnostic & Tuning pack,Support and DR. But was not clear on the partitioning side on how to calculate license cost. Did a lot of googling on this side but couldn't get any relevant information on this.

Thanks,
Arun

Of course, contracts are confidential and depend on the client, so there can't be any accurate information about your specific client contract.

Michel

Arun, do not quote anthing you hear from third parties (such as us) specially now that we know this is for a client. Your first post said it was for you. Only an Oracle sales droid can confirm the answer. If you suspect that a client is operating out of compliance, you should walk off the site immediately and not return until they have informed Oracle.

I am concerned that you say you were "...able to find the details of Oracle EE,RAC,Diagnostic & Tuning pack,Support and DR. But was not clear on the partitioning ..." because ALL the details are very clear on the Oracle Store web site. There is no need to Google this.

Thanks Michel & John for the advice.

Will definitely make a note of this going further.

Thanks,
