ORA error [message #550990]

Hi Experts...

My database is not running and the errors are

ORA-01034 and ORA-27101

please guide me .

Your Database is down. Start it.

Saqib, you did not give detail of either your operating system or what the error actually is. Next time, show the error, like this:

c:\users\john\home>sqlplus scott/tiger

SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.3.0 Production on Sun Apr 15 10:24:40 2012

Copyright (c) 1982, 2011, Oracle.  All rights reserved.

ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist

Enter user-name:

is that what you have, and are you running on Windows? If so, starting the Windows service does not start the Oracle instance. To do that, connect as SYS and issue the STARTUP command.

I m using window and I have stated all windows services as u say. But problem is same. Where I run STARTUP command?

Open a DOS box, set ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME and PATH to contain %ORACLE_HOME%\bin directory.
Launch sqlplus using:
sqlplus / as sysdba
then execute STARTUP.

If you have to administer a database I advice you to read/watch:
Database 2 Day DBA
Oracle DBA Lite
