Hi,
I have installed Windows7 64bit on my laptop and then installed Reports10G.
I am not able to connect to DB from Reports10g, Its gives below error -
REP-0501: Unable to connect to the specified database
ORA-02248: Invalid Option for ALTER SESSION
Same Reports10g is able to connect to DB on WindowsXP machine. Database version is 11g which is remote.
Regards

Huh, right ... which Reports version exactly is it? Maybe one of the earliest 10g ones (which is "identified" as 9.0.x), maybe?
Oracle - generally speaking - is certified with MS Windows Ultimate version (but not with a Home one), so that's not a problem. However, My Oracle Support lists only 11.x Reports versions (i.e. I can't check earlier versions at all) so *maybe* you are running a not supported / not certified combination of Reports and operating system. Have a look by yourself, you might see better than me.
Therefore, if possible, upgrade your Reports version (perhaps by installing the latest patch?). I suppose that downgrading your operating system isn't really a way out of it, right? In that case, you might install virtual machine on your Windows 7, install Windows XP onto it, install Reports on XP and run it happily.
Finally, search the board and/or Internet. I've seen people saying that they run the most incredible combinations of Oracle products and operating systems, but these are more exceptions to the rule than exact guidelines.
Good luck!
