hi,
I am creating database on HP Unix version 11. I have create the database (no of processes 200) I have given value of SEMMNS as 250, but the database is not starting. Can some one tell me what is should be the value of SEMMNS. required immediate

once you change the number of semaphore using SAM on
HP-UX you must reboot the machine. looks like the O/S is using more then 50 semmns in your case. I have had this parameter as high as 800 with no ill effects. (the max on HP-UX for SEMMNS is 8192)

try 500 to 800

I set it to 500 and it works fine.. but is there any ratio between the no. of processes and semaphores..
