ORA-03113 error while database creation [message #50297]

I have installed Oracle 8.1.7 on TruUnix 4.0f. The installation went OK.

Now I am trying to create a database using DBASSIST. But i get an error message
ORA-03113:
end-of-file on communication channel.

Any ideas ?

Hi Hitesh,

Just check if you have the required o/s priveleges to create files on the filesystem.If iam not mistaken you usualy get that error while trying to create files.

This is a general Oracle error. check alert.log or install.log for more detailed Oracle error message.

I've encountered the same problem when I tried to create a database after I installed ORACLE on Solaris(Intel)/ Let's support each other in fixing the problem and when I do this I'll send you my trobleshooting comments.

Hi,

I got the possible area which could result in this error. It is conflict between Unix parameters like SHMMAX, SHMMIN, etc and Oracle Memory parameters. Please reduce the Unix Parameters and proceed ahead with Database creation.

Iam also facing the same problem while replicating the data from 1 database to another database in different location by using procedures (which is having database link).
Till date i enquired lot of DBA's and oracle support but i dosent get any satisfactory answer.
If i get some result i will let u know and if u get some please let me know.
