hi,
I am using Oracle 8.1.6 on NT. Initially our database had 8 user in it and it was damn slow. I moved 7 Database to another similar sever and defragmented all the tablespaces in orginal database. Even though the performance of the server is not improved to appriciable extend.. I have got 8 datafiles, (for users) each of 1.5GB of which nearly 3GB is occupied. Due to techinal reasons here I am not able to recreate the database and in a position to do only cold back up..Some one please suggest me what I can do furthur to improve the performance..
thanks

Hi Brijesh,
Your problem is not very clear to me, as i dont find any reason as to where does the question of number of users ( 8 is a very feeble num) play a role in performance.
There could be various reasons for bad performance.
A few factors used to scale performance are
1. Database Buffer Cache Hit Ratio.
2. Dictionary cache ratio.
3. Library Cache Hit Ratio.
4. I/O contention.
5. The level of OFA implementation.
If you can forward men those details mey be I will be in a possition to help yu.
Bye
