hie guys,can anyone assist me.im failing to connect im this error- status:failure-lo exception:The network adapter could not establish the connection.how can i rectify this problem,im new to Oracle.thank you

Welcome to the forum.
You need to give a lot more information if you want help: in this case, it is probably best to use copy/paste to show the entire SQL*Plus session, so we can see what you did and what the error is.

im getting this output if i check on the listener status:

First, you didn't use the [code] tags as I asked you to, I'll add them this time. You MUST do it in future.

However, the problem you have is that you haven;t started your database listener. Try this:

lsnrctl start

i've tried starting the database listener but im getting an error:thanks for putting the codes for me.

I would guess that Windows security isn't letting Oracle open the socket. Speak to system administrator. Good luck.

the database is located on standalone PC and i have the administrator privileges,what do you think i should do to rectify this.i have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software several times.please help.

All I know is that Windows 7 has insane security structures and I always disable everything in user access control and firewall and so on or nothing bloody works. I can't help. Perhaps someone else can.

I really don't know much about the issue, just noticed this line in LSNRCTL STATUS:

32-bit Windows Error: 2: No such file or directory

Could that mean something? (Which file or directory?)
