hello,everyone.I have a question:
a oracle 7.3 run on hp-unix10.2,
I can link to it in win98 by net8 easy config,
but can't link to in in win2000,
why?how can i do?

in win2000,the error message is :

ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

the enviorment is :

client1£ºwin2000 profession:oracle 8.0.5
net8 easy config:

client2£ºwin98 :oracle 7.3
net easy config:

server£ºhpunix10.2
oracle 7.3.2.3

the client2 can link to server,but client 1 can't.
why?

What do you get when you tnsping it? Verify the listener is running on the target host. Check your local tnsnames and sqlnet ora files to ensure they are correct. Very port settings.

I use tnsping,the error message is :
TNS-12541 TNS:no listener

but I can link to it in a oracle7.3 client.

what should i do
if i want to link to the oracle server7.3 by use a oracle8 client?
should do sth special?

Have you compared the sqlnet and tnsnames ora files with the client that works. Try moving the tnsnames and sqlnet files to a backup directory on the 2000 client and copy the files from the w98 client to the 2000 client. What does your sqlnet.log say on the 2000 client?
