Dear Michel thanks for the reply
i'll explain my case in details , we are connected to a remote database , our database provider gave us the tnsnames.ora and then we are connected ...
now in the past we didnt face a problem but recently we are getting this message many times but on the same client sometimes we are able to connect and sometimes we are getting this message and we have to try again ( without changing anything on the pc ) and then we are connected ...
so am not sure if this is sth to do with oracle_home in the environment variable and if yes ... what is the value that i should set my oracle_home with

Dear Michel,
this should be done on the server right? but i dont have access to the server and our provider insists that the problem is a client issue ...
so how can i be sure that the problem is from the database service or from our clients pc's
thanks alot

Dear Michel ,
how can i Activate SQL*Net trace , i dont have the server ... i might ask this from our database provider but from my side is the setting of oracle home in the environment variables might solve the problem ? if yes , then with what should I set it ?
