Hi,

I am very new to oracle this question might be stupid, but please help me here.

We have oracle 10g on windows. database creates the archive log file and that file then shifted to DR for replication.

Some of the archivelog file date modified tag has been changed.

following are the details

Arch_file_Name Size Date_Modified
Arc_DB_22222 1000KB 6/9/2011 9:55pm
Arc_DB_22223 1040KB 6/9/2011 10:00pm
Arc_DB_22224 1340KB 6/10/2011 10:00pm
Arc_DB_22225 3434KB 6/9/2011 10:05pm
Arc_DB_22226 1230KB 6/11/2011 10:00pm
Arc_DB_22227 1000KB 6/13/2011 11:00pm
Arc_DB_22228 1340KB 6/9/2011 10:20pm
Arc_DB_22229 1340KB 6/9/2011 11:00pm

Is it normal?
if you check the date for arch file 22224 its is 10 June but for 22225 and 22229 the date is again 9 june. It also changed for sequence 22226 and 22227.

IS it normal, i mean with refence to file sequence created he date modified is changed/ diff a lot.
I am sure that no one touch/access the file.

please let me know if more info needed

Where does these data come from?
We are unable to answer your question without knowing how you got this information.
So, please, use SQL*Plus and copy and paste your session, the WHOLE session.

Before, Please read OraFAQ Forum Guide and How to use [code] tags and make your code easier to read.
Make sure that lines of code do not exceed 80 characters when you format.
Indent the code, use code tags and align the columns in result.
Use the "Preview Message" button to verify.
Also always post your Oracle version, with 4 decimals.

Either you are correct or OS has a blatant BUG!

Which do you think is more likely to be true?

This is what could be the cause. Whichever mechanism you use for shifting the the file to DR may not be shifting the files in order. For example , if it is a script that wakes up every 15minutes and copies all the new files in the last 15minutes, but doesn't enforce ordering, only that it ensures that all new files are copied.
Possibly the script or another script periodically moves, compresses, and uncompresses archivelogs as well.
