Not easy. As far as I can tell, ASCII doesn't have "subscript" characters. If you go further (to ISO Latin-1, for example), you'll find superscript 2 and 3 characters, but still no subscript ones. Therefore, you'll most probably need to display those character in a different manner:
- subscripts (for "water"): H(2)O
- superscripts: E = mc(^2)
What do you need it for, anyway? Many subscripts in your case, or sporadic ones?
