Hi
I have a US database that simply needs to synchronise with a database in the UK. This is purely for data purposes and not standby/failover. We have tested a backup, ship and restore of the primary database from US to Uk in less than 24 hours, so can mitigate user input during the transition over a weekend, its simply the ongoing synchronisation moving forward.
The US database already has a standby in place (based in US) that utilises Dataguard already and works well for standby and failover.
On monitoring the primary database to standby database in the US, this is a low transactional DB, and as such only ships six logs (45mb'ish each over a 24 hour period)
I simply need to send these over to the UK to keep in sync.
Is it possible to schedule shipment of redo logs to a standby server at a specific time (outside of US business hours say) or based on these sizes would it not have an impact anyway? Dataguard is Async to make it easier.
RTT times between US and UK is <110ms.
thanks
Mike

No but you can go out of Data Guard and use the good old fashioned standby database with manual log shipping.
