is it possible to take table dump in .dmp extention format in toad?
if yes then how?

Yes. Using the Export Wizard.
in the DBA menu >> Data Import/Export >> Export Utility Wizard.

i am trying to takine export back of emp table in dmp format through toad as per your guideline provided by u.
but when i am trying to do this ,i am getting following error

server uses WE8ISO8859P1 character set (possible charset conversion)
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 942 encountered
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully



emp table is present in my schema

If I may: I'd suggest you to use command line EXP utility. Doing that, you'll *know* what you are doing, what schema you are connecting to, what table(s) you are exporting. This is documentation you should read.

GUI is a great tool, but only if you know how to properly use it (and it seems that you don't know how to use yours).

Well not sure what you are doing wrong. I just tried it and it works fine.
Which schema are you connected from ? and from which schema are you trying to export ?
