Hi,

I'd like practice Oracle using my personal laptop - with the client and database in the same laptop. I think I should download Oracle 10g XE. I was given 3 options. Which of the 3 should I install:
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Western European)
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Universal)
Oracle Database 10g Express Client

Thanks.

Oracle explained it quite well; did you read what it said? If you understand what's being written, there should be no doubt which one to install.
Oracle

OracleXE.exe (165,332,312 bytes)
Single-byte LATIN1 database for Western European language storage, with the Database Homepage user interface in English only.

Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Universal)
OracleXEUniv.exe (216,933,372 bytes)
Multi-byte Unicode database for all language deployment, with the Database Homepage user interface available in the following languages: Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.

Oracle Database 10g Express Client
OracleXEClient.exe (30,943,220 bytes)
Client software to be installed on client systems for remotely accessing Oracle Database 10g Express Edition. You do not need to install the client onto the same computer as Oracle Database 10g Express Edition.

Thanks Little Foot..

I am more inclined to OracleXE.exe (165,332,312 bytes) but I am not sure what a 'Database Homepage' is. please advise.

XE's homepage is accessible through your web browser.

But, it's all in the documentation. Did you not read it?

Thanks again. I installed OracleXE.exe and I noticed the doc only after I opened the application. Yeah, I should be more diligent Smile
