I have a question regarding data extraction to Excel.
Is there any patch or update that makes it possible to extract to
Excel 2007 and not only 2003?

thanks

Why don't you post this question to Quest? or in a TOAD forum?

Thank you for the suggestion.
I still think the question is relevant in this forum too.

Yes it is, it was just an advice, you will likely have more answers and more appropriate answers in other forums.

Which TOAD version do you use?

When you write a query (in Editor), run it and it retrieves some records, then you can right-click within the Data Grid and choose an option named "Save As" or "Export Dataset" (or similar). What does it offer? Is there "Excel file" and "Excel instance"? What happens when you select one of those? I guess that it should do the job and open Excel you've got (whether it is version 2003 or 2007).

If it doesn't work as I suppose, could you describe what you did and how? What was the final result?

Hi,

Actually I have Office 2007 installed.
The problem is that the files created after extraction are of excel 2003 type, which sometimes is a problem when I have to work with too much data.

I just thought there maybe a solution to this, a patch or sth like that.

How many is "too much" (in number of records)? I *think* that Excel limited number of rows to 64K. Is that barrier removed in Excel 2007? (I did some googling; it seems that limit is now 1M).

If export to Excel doesn't work properly, would it be possible to save data as a CSV, which can later easily be opened in Excel?
