I want to become OCA DBA for oracle 10g or 11g
what exam(s) should I take

more important, any good books about these exams

If I were you, I would do the 11g exams. The core exams are not harder than the 10g exams, but the upgrade exam from 10g to 11g is significantly harder: it tests new features, which are usually not included in the core exams.
As for books, I recommend the Oracle press series:

but if you check the authors, you will see why. Sybex also has a series, but I can't comment on them because I haven't read them. Go to Amazon, and read the reviews.
