i m using windows server 2003,whenever i shut down my computer oracle database shut down automaticaly,to startup the database i use svrmgrl command to startup database.i am facing this problem to startup the database again and again at every startup of computer.i have upgraded database oracle8 to oracle8i.plz help me to get rid of this problem.

Yes, I used to have a link to the certification matrix, but since the NEW Metalink went into effect, it only leads me to the main page. I should have saved it locally.
The only thing I do have locally is that 8i Premier support ended 31-Dec-2004 and Extended support ended 31-Dec-2006, so it is possible.

I was determined to find the answer, and metalink note 161546.1 does indeed say that Windows 2003 was NOT supported in any way with 8i or 9.0.1.x (9.2.0.3 with some fancy footwork only).
