How to re-import a 9i dump file to 10g [message #458399]

Hi,

I am in the process of upgrading our 9i DB to 10g .
As they are on different servers, I have installed 10g on the new server and applied the latest patchset 10.2.0.4.
I am creating the production database and importing th e9i dump file into this.
Now I will be testing the whole application that uses this database.
After a week, I need to take the latest 9i dump and export to the new 10g DB.
Do I need to just import the latest 9i dump into the 10g db or do I need to do anything else?

Please advise.

You'll probably want to remove what you already imported and - possibly - modified during the last week. If so, well, I can't tell whether there's an easy (easier) way to do it apart from dropping the (10g) database and creating it again. I guess that dropping users one after another, minding constraints etc. makes such a job tedious and unpleasant.

However, someone else might know another, better way to do that.

Please realize that on 1 July 2010 V10 will go into unsupported category.

If you upgrade to V11.2 now, the level of effort will be the same as going to V10.

Pretty much what Littlefoot said.
Generate an sql script from dba_users that will do this for all users that are concerned and import again.

drop user userName cascade constraints;
