Hi Experts,
I have to create/configure the environment for the database having high volume of the transactions nearly 10000 transactions per day and at peak time nearly 1500 transactions per second.
RAC can be one of the solution but that comes up with high cost.
I googled for this type of environment configuration, but can not find good link that can give some clear idea.
Can you please advice me (or provide me the link), what could be possible settings need to be configured for this environment configuration in both RAC and Non-RAC.
Thanks in advance for your advice and valuable time.
Regards
Lalit

Thanks Michel for the prompt reply and links.
But i already configured the RAC environments on solaris on testing environments.
I was just keen to know apart from RAC, can we have another options like streams or replication to fulfill this requirement.
Just looking for some options so that i can propose the solution to the client both in terms of technical and budget wise.
Regards
Lalit.

RAC is a way to build an environment you can scale by adding small servers together to build a large machine. There is nothing stopping you from deploying a single large server that meets your customers computing demands. You really need to work with the software vendor to determine what configuration of hardware will meet the target performance. RAC and Streams are two completely different technologies - I am not sure why you would be comparing the two. You need to better understand your customers current and future computing demands - RAC allows you to buy smaller servers at first and then when you need more power you simply add another small server. This is usually better than getting a big server to start with, with regards to expandability. There is no common measurement of a transaction really - so your customers 10,000 transactions a day could be equivalent to anthers 5,000,000 transactions a day - one transaction could be more simple or complex than the other. As your customers transactions are unique to them, there is no real way to suggest settings - those would be identified during tuning.
If I were you I would get an oracle technical sales rep involved.

Thanks Mkounalis for your comments.
I described the technical details to the customer about the RAC and other possible solutions for this kind of requirement.
And he agrees for the RAC.
