Dear all,
This is my first post on this forum, hope i will get the response.
i am to work on oracle 8.0.5 and Developer2000.
and i am unable to install them on a single machine.
i have installed oracle 8.0.5 successfully and connect it all right, also configured the TNS listener and also created the service.
but when i try to install the Developer2000 in a separate drive or folder then it raises the message that you already have a Oracle Home on your Computer, installing new home may cause older products not to work.
if i go on with the install instead of warning, the developer installer starts and then exists without any message.
now what to do?
there are few more things that i need to know but i will ask them in other topics.
actually there is a little experiment i am doing where i want to move the application working in Dev2000 , Oracle 8.0.5 on Window2000, to Dev2000 , Oracle 10g on windows Xp SP2
Need your help
thanks,
Ahmad Saeed

Dear
It is better to install oracle 10g with developer2000 because i am working in the same enviornment. Working fine for me.
If you still want to install oracle 8.0.5 then The trick i have mentioned to you will work fine. I have practised it in past a lot of time.
Thanx

Dear
you are changing just the database not the developer so it need not to compile again
just exp the database and import it in oracle 10g.
if you just have the installation issue then it is better to install oracle 8.0.5 in the way i have mentioned.

Ok then dear go to Hafeez Centre and don't purchase the local CD's. Say someone to make original and complete CD for you. Just offer them extra money they will do it for you.
