Hi Gurus,
Why do we need serviceguard for installing RAC on HPUX?This is the cluster provided by HP right?when we are using oracle clusterware why we need any thrid party cluster.Is it something that i'm missing here?Please can anyone help me understand this.

It is not a must.
Serviceguard provides clustering in OS level. You can install Oracle RAC with or without OS clustering.
Without serviceguard, the noted issue (atleast with Oracle 9i) was the need to depend on RAW devices.
With 10g and above you can use Oracle's ASM to manage the volumes.
