user authentication while using database link [message #412895]

Hi,
I am using database link to connect to remote database in my application. I want to authentication while connecting to remote database. Please help me out. I have gone through Oracle advance security and learnt about Kerberos but I am not getting how to install Kerberos server and use it for authentication. how to install Kerberos server. Any information will be helpfull.

Well, in order to create a database link, you have to provide password (by using the IDENTIFIED BY clause). So, if you already have created the database link, it means that you know the password. Why would you want to perform another identification?

It is the same principle if you use kerberos to authenticate.

How to install is explained in documentation.
Using Kerberos to authenticate in Oracle requires ASO (Advanced Security Option) which is far from free.

Thanks for reply, as far I can understand, There is option in Net Manager for Kerberos configuration. Only addtional requirement is Kerberos server or we need to have a totally new configuration system.
