Upgrade 9i to 10g Dataguard Physical Standby [message #399092]

I am looking to upgrade our current 9.2.0.8 database to 10.2.0.3.

I have been reading
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/upgrades.htm

What I do not understand is how the standby gets upgraded? Does it effectively do a rolling upgrade of the standby as the primary gets upgraded?

You do not upgrade the standby database, you recreate it.

So I would blow away the old standby and then recreate a new standby? Say I have a 200gb database about how long would that take?

I knew that answer was coming as soon as I typed that question. I will go and research deleting/creating standby's now.

1) synch standby with primary
2) stop transfer of redo log files.
3) shutdown both DBs
4) install new version of s/w on both systems
5) start standby to apply redo log files using new version s/w
6) run dbca on primary (which does DDL & DML) using new version
7) after upgrade of primary completes, start transfer of redo

I was given these steps by another member. Any opinions?
