I think you need to elaborate your question for better understanding.

Why do you want to use a thumb scanner? Is that to validate user logging into the application or for some other purpose?

What is the output type of that scanner when connected to a PC?

You need to connect the thumb scanner to the PC through a USB port and read the scanned information into a text item on your screen.

You can set the text item property "CONCEAL DATA" to "YES" to hide the characters.

Once you have the information, do the validation and proceed to the rest of your application. I think your question is not too specific about what exactly you are looking for? I hope this info helps you.
