I'm trying to use the ODBC importer to import some excel data. I'm running into a problem with one field that uses both text, and numbers stored as text. The importer just won't import the records that contain something like '10.5.' If I change the field to 10.5M or something like that the importer works.
I've changed my Excel column under format cells - number - and selected text, but that didn't help.
I've also tried using to_char(#) in the importer, under the "Data to Oracle" tab, selected the field and entered the function in the "SQL function" text box.
Any help is appreciated.

Please realize that you have an Excel & data problem & not an Oracle problem.
You are paying the price for
> one field that uses both text, and numbers stored as text.
If you fix the data, then no problem exists.
>records that contain something like '10.5.' If I change the field to 10.5M or something like that the importer works.
I do not understand what this means.
