I am trying to run the remote application in debug mode. I am passing debug=yes in the url It opens up the Application browser but did not open up the Window that pass the port number and Server Name that can be attached to Form builder. I think that there are some setting to be done in FORMSWEB.cfg
file that would enable this window to pop up. It was working fine before our DBA refreshed Oracle apllication Server environment. I did this before but now forgot which parameter I changed or added either in .env or formsweb.cfg file. I would really appreciate your help.

Don't you have to go into the Forms Builder and do an 'attach' or something like that?

Thanks for reply, yes I have to go to the Form Builder to attach the debug. But to do that I need port and server name that I would attach in the Form Builder. So when we pass the pass debug=yes in the URL it pops up a window that has port and server name. In my case that window is not not popping up so I cant get the port and server name Info. I had this issue before also then I remember that I changed some parameter in the formsweb.cfg file that solve this issue. Now our DBA has refreshed the App Server environment and I forgot which paramter I have to change in Formsweb.cfg to bring that window back again.

We used to have a menu option which did a 'debug.something' and this would popup the necessary information.

Look at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/formsservices9ifaq.html?_template=/ocom/print which says
Quote:
How can I attach to a remote form in debug mode?

First of all, the Form that you wish to debug needs to make a call to Debug.Attach in PL/SQL (You might associate this with a menu option in the module.) Calling Debug.Attach; will pop up a dialog on the remote system containing the name of the server and a port number.

In the Forms Builder, use the Debug->Attach Debug menu option to display the "Attach Debug to" dialog. Enter the supplied machine and port number into this dialog. You will then be able to debug the remote session.
I hope this helps.

Thank you David for reply. I did already try this but that also did not work as I have issue in poping up Window that shows the port and server name. I nfact I never had issue running in debug mode but displaying the pop up window. But finally I figured out, in environment file we have to specify path to the debugger.jar file. Once I did it, now its working fine. Thanks for help.

Hi

I am facing the same problem, session seems to hang.

When starting the form with http://<server>/forms/frmservlet?config=<form>&debug=yes I get a forms pop-up stating host=<hostname> Port=<random port??> "To enable debugging........from the Builder debug menu" I changed in formsweb.cfg debug to yes, in env file debugging.jar added to the classpath. Nothing happens, sessions seems to hang.....

Please help...

Hi David

Yes we solved the problem, it seemed that we just had to click Ok to proceed, the form is running than in debug mode.

Regards Peter

Thank goodness for that, I was worried. The 9i, etc debug is fairly simple and I had no idea what could have been wrong.
