Does anyone know how to determine the time zone that the box Oracle is running on is set to from SQL? I need this for the NEW_TIME function. The answer ultimately needs to be something like "EST" or"CST" and then "EDT" or "CDT" when daylight savings time comes.

Thanks.

If you know how to find it on the host operating system, you can do the HOST command from within SQL*Plus and get it that way.
