Hi.
I'm looking into sending a SQL command that would do nothing, in order to do some kind of keepalive on a connection. Do you have any idea? (must not be oracle specific)

Sounds like a nasty workaround...

you could try something like :

select 'x' from mytable where 1=2;

pl/sql would be ...
begin
null;
end;

...but that is oracle specific.
