How can I embed an SQL statement in .bat file OR how to
run a SQL statement from a command line.

Hi!
First, write the SQL statment in .sql file and finish it with exit;
(For ex. SELECT sysdate from sys.dual;
exit;)
then write in your .bat file :

sqlplus username/password @sql_file
