I did my weekly stats report and depend on dba_tables to extract the num_rows for the tables but I realized after 3 attempts each at different times, all yields the same results. I did a actual select count on the particular table and found the values to be otherwise. What is the discreprancies between these two? I am using oracle 7.3.

num_rows is only updated when you analyze the table, not whenever rows are inserted or deleted.
