We are a relatively small shop where the IS Staff typically wears many hats. We do not have a highly bureaucratic structure where the hardware, operating system or network cannot be reconfigured to suit the needs of the Oracle database, because that is some other organization's turf. The downside is that the DBA Team needs the skills to reconfigure the hardware, the operating system, and the network.
We are searching for a candidate who can assist us in several, not necessarily all of the following areas.
We need an Oracle DBA with experience tuning the database to support third party application software. We are running Deltek's Costpoint 2.1B accounting system on top of an Oracle 7.3.4 Enterprise Edition Server running on a Sun Ultra 2 Solaris 2.6 platform. We have users on a remote site connected to the main site by a pair of T-1 lines with Cisco routers; LAN segments at both ends have 100 Base TX Cabletron switches.
We will be constantly implementing upgrades to newer versions of the Costpoint application and Oracle server. We need to complete Y2K testing.
We need to reverse engineer the third party application, and create views and/or export data to separate tables to support ODBC access to the database from MS-Office applications. We will need to support integrating this data with data from other applications.
We need to support and respond to the needs of the accounting staff.
Please send resumes and compensation requirements to lclement@lrri.org
