Hallo Sara,
Why you TNSListener service has disappeared : don't know!
But I had ones the same problem, had to create a TNSlistener service without
creating a new db.
As I remember it, you must be able to do it with the progam "\orant\bin\lsnrctl.exe"
I don't remember me how I did it but it worked.
See if you can find some doc about it or just try it out.
example:
in dos box type "lsnrctl.exe" and hit enter
help
set password <PWD>
start OR reload OR ..
This program will read his info from the file "\orant\network\admin\listener.ora"
Hope this info can help you a little bid.
Thierry.

Hi,
if downtime is available I would recommend to
deinstall/install the sqlnet components of oracle.
this should setup your registry again.
For Oracle Start/Stop You use the oradim73 or
oradim80 Utility to create/modify services.
But I guess its not possible to create the listener-service with it.
Using this tool is the only way i know to delete
a service from control panel. (is it possible that someone played with it ....?)
hope that helps,
regards Thomas
