Client apps using SQL*Net v1 & 2 simultaneously [message #367579]

We've recently upgraded to SQL*Net 2xx for most of our client access, but urgently need to be able to use a 16-bit application (Resource Manager) that uses the old v1 SQL*Net. We can do this by re-booting the client machine each time the app is opened / closed to set the appropriate environment variables, but its proving a problem for managers! Any ideas on possibly:

A) Programmatically altering the client Registry before and after a 16-bit app is run using v1

B) A app to convert client SQL*Net v1 calls into v2 and host v2 replies into v1 etc?

Which would be the more efficient, stable and most important:- secure?
