guys
what do you think is the disadvantage if I will not use form builder of oracle and instead I will use vb .. in developing the user interface…

will it affect the performance of processing data?

because i have noticed that form 6i is very much limited in so many things compared to vb...

It appears that you've already decided what to do.

Just being curious: could you name these "so many things"?

Also, did you consider using a more recent Forms Developer version (such as 10g)?

i'm using form 6i..

like for instance inserting ms agent to your form....
i have searched this site and used google.. but i did not find any code...

and its user friendliness... there is no automatic listings of commands we call that in vb as "auto list info".. and the error messages too... not so descriptive...

is there any site for oracle equivalent to vbcode.com in vb where in anyone can download sample fmb's .... because it is really better if there are examples ....

one more thing... can you write into registry in oracle forms?

can you know know the ip address of your comp. in oracle or create folder in oracle.....

i think you have to use some utilities to do this in oracle...

If data processing is done at the database level, no. Otherwise, I don't know.

Research use of the D2KUTIL; there's the WIN_API_ENVIRONMENT package which contains READ_REGISTRY and WRITE_REGISTRY procedures which might help.

If you choose to move to Forms 10g, then you could use WEBUTIL instead.
