We have a .NET application on windows server 2008 32bit using the stored procedures on an Oracle 10g environment.
We are trying to deploy the .NET application onto a 64bit x86 Windows server 2008.
We face an error trying to install the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client on windows 2008. The error we get is
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: javaw.exe
Is the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client certified for Windows 2008? Has anyone successfully installed the 64bit version of the oracle client on win2008?
We have a workaround in place with 32 bit version of the client running with the 32 bit version of the .NET application on x64 win2008. However to maximise the infrastructure we need to use the 64 bit version or we would have to turn to MSSQL Server .
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Prash

I don't do Windoze.
In the past on *nix I have had problems with finding a 64-bit Java that was reliable.
Does you system have the latest JRE from Sun installed on & no other previous version of Java available on it?
IMO, this problem is not really an Oracle problem per se.
Realize that OUI is a java based product & depends upon the JRE available from the OS.
GOOGLE is your friend but only if you use it.
Results 1 - 8 of 8 for appcrash javaw.exe

I have the same probleme when installing the 10g 64 bit ODA client tools (.Net provider and OLDEDB) on Vista 64-bit Business.
It is not the 64-bit JRE that I installed on my system that crashes, but is is the 32-bit JRE runtime installed by the installer in a temporary directory during instalation.
I did disable Windows defender and I have administrative rights.
The problem already occured before I did install the 64-bit Java.
Anybody knows a solution to this problem?
Thanks

I am having the exact same problem as the thread originator,..
Trying to install oracle 10g x64 client onto 2008 Server R2
When I try to launch setup.exe I end up with:
Abnormal program termination. An internal error has occurred. Please provide the following files to Oracle Support:
"unknown"
"unknown"
"unknown"
I have burned a full day on this now,...
Did anyone find a solution???
Thanks!
