Hi,
you need to take a look to ITIL for a reference framework. Then you may define where your capacity planning efforts will be oriented: CPU, storage, memory, network and so on.
It will take into account:
1) Usage trends
2) New child CIs
I've a tested proposal for storage within Oracle database, see Poor's man capacity planing. Hope it helps...
