Hi all,

I'm unable to run the form from Forms builder when I try to run it from my laptop when I work out of home.
I can't even get the test form to run.
I'm able to run the form when I'm working at the office.

This is what happens when I try to run the forms from the Forms builder (on my laptop):
1.Start OC4J,
2. run form from the forms builder,
3.The web browser opens up and there's blank screen with only Oracle Forms heading displayed and the
tab has Connecting on the top and it closes out on me.
I've attached the screenshot.

I'ld appreciate any inputs.
TIA

Did you try to Compile All (Ctrl + Shift + K) and then run the form?

On Internet Explorer 6 (your version is ... 7?) you could also try to go to Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Security - Allow active content to run in files on My Computer. See whether your IE version enables something like this.

However, we've had a discussion and user downgraded IE from version 7 to version 6 in order to be able to properly run forms.

I can't tell that any of these will help, but ...

Have a look at http://www.orafaq.com/forum/m/319763/67467/?srch=tools+internet+options+david#msg_319763 which points to http://www.orafaq.com/forum/m/264585/67467/?srch=tools+internet+options+lan+settings+advanced#msg_264585

Hi All,

Thanks for your responses to my query.

Littlefoot:
I compiled the form and had tried it. Did not work.
I had already tried Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Security - Allow active content to run in files on My Computer. after reading on this forum. That didn;t help.

I didn't downgrade to IE 6.0 as at office with IE 7.0 my form runs.

David,
I looked at the link that had this post :
Go to tools -> internet options, Connections, lan settings, advanced, and in Exceptions add the prefix for your local machine (for example, ';mypc.*') to the end of the list.
The name 'mypc' should have been created in the 'tnsnames.ora' file during the Forms 10g installation - check it.

Now My questions:

I'm not sure what I need to enter for my local machine.

Do I need to look for tnsnames.ora under the
DevSuiteHome_1\network\admin.

I would appreciate your response.

TIA
saigee

Open a 'cmd' screen and type 'hostname'. That's the name you need to have in your browser property.

Hi,

I got the local machine name.

I get a message box saying
'The settings for the proxy server you've chosen to use are blank. This prevents access to the Internet.
Do you want to turn off the proxy connection'
(I've attached the screenshot).
Do we need to hit 'Yes'/'No' to this messagebox?
Iam still unable to run the form.

TIA

Who can tell, but you? Do you use proxy or not?

By the way, while waiting for someone to respond to your message, did you click "Yes" and see what happens, and then repeat the action by clicking "No" to see what happens in such a case?

Hi,

Thank you for your response.
I did try both the ways and see which one helps before I posted on this forum.

Hi All,

Thanks to all those replies to my query.

I was able to run the Form from the form builder.
The Automation Staff ran a bunch of updates on the
server and uninstalled some games.
After that I have been able to run the forms.

Thanks

/forum/fa/450/0/ Cool. So you are installing games on your servers? That's really something. I know some companies that would uninstall people responsible for that off their jobs.
