Unless you are only managing about 10 TNSNAMES.ora files, ditch them all ...
Two alternatives - Names Server & Oracle internet Directory (LDAP). Both
are supplied with the database, both are no additional license fee, both
resolve the problem. Both are documented - see http://technet.oracle.com
