I don't think everyone uses the same name in every newsgroup they visit, to avoid 'cross referencing' to get info about them (like interests in Oracle, Classical Music, Public Transportation, Cheap Drug Stores - Trekpleister, Scouting, Health Status etc). That explains the different aliases part.
