More on the UNDO MANAGEMENT default from Oracle

The following is from a member of the team of tech writers at Oracle responsible for the 10g docs.

I researched this with the DBCA team, and it turns out that you are correct.

Here is their response:

"A DBCA-created database has Automatic Undo Management ON by default. It's off by default only in the case where the DB is created manually."

I can't promise that I will revise the 10gR2 Database Administrator's Guide (already released an update, part # B14231-02), but I will ensure that this is corrected for our next release of Oracle Database.

Again, thank you for your feedback.

Steve

So, in a sense, both the default and the non-default values ... are the default. It just depends on how you create the database.
