Refer to page 144 of Oracle 9i installtiona manual for UNIX systems:

SHLIB_PATH for HP UNIX is to be set to: $ORACLE_HOME/lib32
and


LD_LIRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib



Anyway, cahning SHLIB_PATH did not make any difference
