Oracle 9i Install Problem

I am getting the following error when i try to run the installer for Oracle 9i
i am installing in on Suse 10

Initializing Java Virtual Machine from
/tmp/OraInstall2006-04-13_06-48-09PM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...
Error occurred during initialization of VM Unable to load native library:
/tmp/OraInstall2006-04-13_06-48-09PM/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so: symbol
__libc_wait, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

if you know why this might be happening please advise
