These are tools: Nothing more. I care as much about Oracle buying up software companies as I care whether about the brand name on the shovel I use in the garden. I choose the one that gets the job done best.

If I was a professional gardner I'd care about which shovel made me most productive so I could earn the most money for my family. With databases I look at which product will help me pay the mortage. Right now the answer is Oracle. Seems likely it will remain that way for the rest of my career.
