Problem sorted - the issue was not with the dblink but with privileges
- i.e. making sure that whatever user the dblink connected as had the
necessary privileges on both schemas I was trying to reach. Not for the
first time it was the "does not exist" (rather than "no privileges")
errors that fogged the issue!
