JBOD = Just a Bunch Of Disks

Usually directly attached to the computer, and usually isolated to one computer. May be in a separate 'Raid controller' box or perhaps set up as a 'RAID' array using pure software support. Or may simply be configured as a bunch of disks.

BY the way, I concur with several others - since using 9i (roughly the same time I switched to mostly Linux) I have not experienced any block corruptions.
