Hi,

I just installed Oracle 10g. On one of the installation screens, I unchecked the box prompting to 'Create a starter database'. Later, after the prerequsite checks, a screen appeared with the title 'Select configuration option' with the following options:

[] Create a database
[] Configure ASM

     [] Some other options
[] Install database software only

I selected 'Create a database' thinking that it would prompt me to enter the type e.g. general-purpose, transaction-processing, etc. Instead, it prompted me to give the database a name, character set, whether I wanted the sample schemas or not, and later, the passwords.

The first time I installed it, I must have opted for 'Create the starter database' option. I ran DBCA, selected the option to configure an existing database, and selected the database I just created, however all of the options were greyed out. My question is... how do I view edit the settings for making the DB general-purpose, transaction-processing, etc?

I realise that these are just default setting that need to be tweeked anyway, but I'd like to know...

Thanks in advance for any replies.
