There is nothing generic about a SAN that contradicts anything Oracle has said about storeage. Developing an optimum storage strategy is not trivial and involves understanding how the application will access disk. Thus it is not something easily written about in a quick usenet post.

Suffice it to say the number of physical disks, the number of LUNs, zoning of switches, and the use of LVMs can be the difference between super-sonic and glacial. To help you more on-line we will need a lot of information and as I stated this is likely not the correct medium.
