The first thing I'd try ( if possible ) is to upgrade Slowlaris 7. It was a rush job to get 64 bit support out there, and really wasn't too good! Upgrade to Sol 8, or preferably 9, as 10 is now available at the Early Adopter stage.
Sorry, can't comment about Netbackup side, as I'm pretty confined to Backup Exec and windoze these days ):
