Hi!

I am a newbie to install the Oracle 8.1.7.3.3 server on Windows 2000 Advanced server with 8GB RAM. According to newsgroup information, I found that some procedures need to be done for enabling VLM. The procedures include

1. add /PAE in boot.ini
2. add use_indirect_data_buffers=true in initSID.ora
3. add awe_window_memory in registry

Am I right?
However, I can't find how to add awe_window_memory in registry. It means that what is the type of awe_window_memory? double word? What value is required to fill in for my case?   I tried once. awe_window_memory is set to double word and fill 2,684,354,560(Decimal). After reboot, the SGA size is less than 2GB and the available memory in OS is around 2GB. The db_block_buffers is 655,360 and db_block_size is 8192. I expect Oracle will occupy 5G memory at all. Anyone can help me? Received on Fri Mar 05 2004 - 07:09:59 CST
